Barts and The London Dental Society was established in 1911 and is run by students at our dental institute to serve our whole dental community.
The Dental Society serves 3 main purposes; academic, social and welfare. We represent all dental students (BDS) and dental hygiene & therapy students (DHT/BScOH) by providing a link between the students and staff to overcome any clinical or curriculum matters, whilst ensuring our level of teaching and learning is always to the highest standard. Our mentoring scheme provides pastoral support to students in younger years and we make proactive efforts to ensure welfare support is available to any students in need.
We also organise a wide range of social and academic events throughout the year to unity our students, whilst integrating with the medical and allied course students at Barts and The London and all students at QMUL. As a Dental Society, we also have close connections with the DentSocs for all the other UK Dental Schools and each year choose a charity to adopt and support through fundraising activities.
We are an award-winning Society, with multiple accolades such as Society of The Year (2019/20), Gold QMSU Excellence award and Committee Member of The Year (2019/20), and Honours awards (2024/25).
