Barts and The London Mixed Lacrosse Club

BL Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing mixed sports clubs at Barts! We're a friendly, welcoming group and always excited to meet new faces!

Since lacrosse isn’t a common sport at school, we don’t expect any level of prior experience and pride ourselves on creating a space where everyone can get involved. Many of our members join as complete beginners and with the help of our fantastic coach and friendly teammates, new players settle in quickly and often surprise themselves with how much they progress.

You’ll find yourself building confidence, learning new skills, and having a great time every step of the way.

Taster Session

Our FREE taster session will run in September, make sure to follow our Instagram page to keep up with updates.

This session will just be an introduction to lacrosse for people who have never played (or even heard of) the sport before. There is no selection process to join the team and it’s just a bit of fun to get to know each other and the sport.

Come along in your sports clothes, and if you have a gumshield or lacrosse stick, bring them along too! Don’t worry if you don’t - we’ve got plenty of sticks to share with anyone new to the sport.

Training

We have weekly training sessions on Tuesday at St Paul's Way Trust School Mile End, from 7pm-9:00pm.

We cater our training to both new players learning basic skills, such as ball control, passing and shooting - as well as to experienced players learning about more advanced techniques and match tactics, allowing everyone to develop at their own pace.

You do not need to have any special equipment beyond a gum shield. Sticks and balls will be provided, but do bring your own if you have one!

We ask that you are at least committed to the Tuesday training sessions, but we strongly encourage you to play in as many matches as you can throughout the year – It’s great fun and a really good way to see yourself develop. (dates for these will be released on the groupchat as we know them).

Competitions

BL Lacrosse competes in the LUSL League, which means our matches usually take place around midday on Sunday's.

Our home field is Chislehurst Playing Field, with each university having a different home ground. We will coordinate travel to games, but sometimes this will involve using public transport.

Socials

We offer regular socials with something for everyone, both drinking and non-drinking events. Join us every Wednesday evening for Tables night at The Griff, or get involved in activities like game nights, pub golf, paintballing, shuffleboard, painting, and plenty more!
