About

BLPEMS is a Pre-Hospital and Emergency Medicine society - At Barts and The London we are incredibly privileged to study in the shadow of the best trauma centre in all of Europe, with some of the most highly recognised Emergency Medicine consultants.

We deliver trainings, workshops, shifts at the Royal London Hospital as well as regular volunteering opportunities to deliver basic life support skills to the community.

Our past events include:

  • EMTALKs monthly online throughout COVID allowing EM doctors from a variety of settings to share their experiences 
  • A&E shifts via our studentship programme
  • Royal Life Saving Society’s (RLSS) Save a Baby’s Life course to allow students to become community instructors on first aid
  • Wembley First Aid Course - work as a first aider at Wembley Stadium
  • Pre-Hospital Weekend including mass-casualty scenarios at the TFL Training Centre (under tube trains!), water rescue and intubation
  • Shifts with the Neonatal Transfer Service ambulances at The Royal London Hospital
  • Teach basic life support at major events with the RLSS (past location include Arsenal Football Club’s Emirates Stadium)
  • First Aid Course in Outdoor Medicine
  • Point-of-Care Ultrasound Course led by the RCEM Regional Ultrasound Lead
