Welcome to QMBL Table Tennis Club!

Come along to one of our training sessions for a friendly no commitment game of table tennis.

All abilities are welcome; whether you're a complete beginner or the king of the table, you'll find a good game at the club!

We are a mixed club taking part in social and competitive table tennis.

We aim to provide a platform for people interested in table tennis to have fun, progress and develop within the club to a level which you can play a role in our performance squad.

 

How to get Involved

  1. Follow the instagram page and get in contact with the club committee members.

  2. Attend the taster session - this first session is free!

  3. Purchase your subs membership- at the Hub (Mile End), BLSA reception (Whitechapel) or online.

  4. Enjoy! Take part in the sessions, socials and compete in the matches.

 

Sessions

Everything will take place in the Mile End campus Qmotion Active Studio which can be found on the second floor of Qmotion Sport, It is a comfortable air-conditioned room. The sessions for members takes place on Tuesdays 2-5pm every week. Please ask the front desk if you are unsure where to go.

 

Competitions and training?

BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport)

Training for the team takes place on Monday 8-10pm and Tuesday 1-3pm in the Sports Hall (this is only for team members).

 

FAQ

Format: Free play and games (potential coaching for the first semester).

What you need to bring: Your own table tennis bats (bats will be provided if required).

Dates for Taster and Team Trials: There will be a free casual session on the first week (25th Sept) and tryouts for the team will take place during the second week (September 30th and October 1st).

What are the next steps if you are selected? Promising players will be invited to a final round on October 7th. Once you have joined our team, you will train with the team and compete, representing the club and university in inter-University competitions (BUCS). Please contact our committee for more information.

What happens if you are not selected? Continue to train in our weekly social sessions and participate in club activities. There will be opportunities to join the team if you are seen to stand out at the weekly sessions. Active participation and commitment is highly regarded.

 

 

Recreational Table Tennis

Separate from the club QMSU also offers Get Active Table Tennis sessions for just £2.00 per session and open to all abilities. It's a fun, social, turn up and play programme, visit the Get Active site for more information.

 

Personal Fitness

QMSU offers a gym on the Mile End campus, Qmotion, as well as a sister-gym in Charterhouse Square, Fitness to Practice, both with competitive student membership rates. This is ideal for students who want to purchase a gym membership - which is separate from a Club Sport subs - to improve and maintain peak physical fitness.

With every gym membership, you get a free 60 minute one-to-one session with trained instructors which includes:

  • A personalised gym programme tailored to your own fitness goals;

  • A full demonstration of exercise and techniques, and guidance on resistance machines;

  • Information and advice on nutrition;

  • A 60 minute review session every 6-8 weeks to re-evaluate and re-customise a new programme to avoid plateaus.
