In the 2026/2027 academic year, our club aims to provide both competitive and developing volleyball players with opportunities to play more of the sport and to meet others with similar passions. This year our club will be offering:
- The opportunity to join a competitive BUCS volleyball team:
- Our club's Women's team currently competes in BUCS Southeastern Division 1, playing against teams from universities such as King's College London, University of Brunel, London School of Economics, University of Essex, and City St George University.
- Our club's Men's team currently competes in BUCS Southeastern Division 2, playing against teams from universities such as London School of Economics, University of East London, City St George University, and University of Kent 1 and 2.
- The opportunity to play at a high level in the LUSL mixed-gender volleyball team in Premier League against UCL, Kings, Brunel ect.
- Socials: from team dinners to Hail Mary, QMVC offers a wide range of socials for team members.
- Social Membership - taking part in recreational training sessions and tournaments throughout the semester.
Our volleyball club strives to help improve personal and inter-personal skills such as, communication, cooperation and to create a competitive space for players to play volleyball, whilst giving our club members an opportunity to have fun while doing so. This year, our club is committed to host more events and social volleyball sessions which those who follow our club can attend.
Trials
QMVC is holding trials for the upcoming season, and we're looking for experienced volleyball players to join our competitive squads. If you’ve previously played on a competitive team or competed in structured leagues, we want to see you on court. We play in both BUCS (Men’s and Women’s) and LUSL (Mixed), offering high-level competition and a strong team environment.
September 2026-27 Trials:
Trials will take place between the 21th and 24rd of September, 3-5pm. Exact times and locations will be confirmed on our INSTAGRAM stay tuned and get ready to bring your best game to QMVC!
A few things you need to know before the trials:
Your skills and overall attitude will be taken into account when the committee organises the teams. These trials are not for beginners or those with limited experience in playing the sport competitively.
Please complete the full registration process when the form is released. Those who have not completed the full registration process will be turned away immediately.
January 2025 Trials: Due to a large number of players being in the team already in the first semester, we can only accept a handful more players onto the teams. Therefore, after completing the google form, only those who are selected (based on experience) and contacted by a member of the committee will be invited to trials. In these trials, we will mostly be looking for students who have experience playing volleyball to fill spaces on the teams. If selected, you will be joining our Men's and Women's teams for their first training session of the second semester.
Training
Training will take place on Thursdays at Leyton Score Centre (E10 5UN).
- The Women's and Men's teams train in a rota for sessions of 2:00 - 4:00pm and 4.00 - 6.00pm.
YOU CANNOT ATTEND WITHOUT A MEMBERSHIP!
Commitment levels required to play on our teams: Attendance at weekly Thursday training sessions and availability to play on Mondays (LUSL) and Wednesdays (BUCS). Players with strong commitments to the club will be favoured in the process of team selection. The three-strike rule will see a warning issued at first, followed by a game suspension for a second strike. If a player receives three strikes, there will be a discussion within the committee regarding your place at the club.
Socials
We have weekly socials that take place after BUCs on a wednesday. Most notable being Friendsgiving, Karaoké, Pub Crawls, Chinese New Year and most importantly, HAIL MARY. Joining our club, is also making a conscious effort to join our socials. Whether you have purcahsed a socials membership OR a competitive one, we expect you to be ready to come out with us🕺!
Competitions
BUCS matches, LUSL matches, Student Cup and the Merger Cup against Barts' volleyball teams.
