Queen Mary Students Union is a democratic membership organisation that is the voice of all Queen Mary students. The Union ensures that the University and the wider community are listening to what students want and works to improve students’ experience. The Union is led by students across Queen Mary. Every Queen Mary student is automatically a member of the Union and has a say in how it is run through elections and their representatives. 
 
The Union provides a number of student-run activities, like sports clubs, societies, student media and volunteering. As well as student-led events and services in Mile End and Whitechapel including a sport and fitness centre and several shops and venues.

QMSU Football Activator

QMSU are recruiting the 2015/16 Football Activator position.

This is an exciting role supported by Queen Mary Students Union (QMSU), The Football Association (The FA) and British University College Sport (BUCS).  

The primary purpose of the position is to drive the effective delivery of the QMSU 11-a-side Intramural Football League. The successful candidate will be working alongside the QMSU sports development team and the university football clubs to ensure that recruitment, marketing and delivery of the league is a success.

The role aims to provide the successful candidate with key skill development to aid future employability, with ongoing training and support from the above parties.

Applicants must be available to work on Wednesday afternoons from 13:00 – 18:00 and will be expected to attend all CPD opportunities and attend one meeting per month with the QMSU sports development team to monitor and evaluate the programme and your own performance.

Essential: Enthusiastic about the development of grass roots football, self-driven, motivated, resourceful, attention to detail, punctual, organised, excellent communication skills, very high customer service standards.

Higher Education Badminton Officer

      Overview:
 
Badminton England is working in partnership with the Queen Mary Students Union in order to achieve the following objectives:
  • To provide opportunities that increase the number of new participants
  • Increase the frequency and consistency of current participants playing badminton
  • To retain current players moving into and out of Higher Education

The primary purpose of this role is to take on a coordinator role for the brand new to 2015/16 QMSU Intramural badminton league

The successful candidate will be required to volunteer on average 5 hours per week (most likely Wednesday afternoons – 14:00 – 17:00) between late September 2015 and April 2016.  

The successful candidate will work towards the programme targets and objectives focussed around increasing participation into badminton in a lower level competition format.

The successful candidate will be working alongside the QMSU sports development team and the university badminton clubs to ensure that recruitment, marketing and delivery of the league is a success.

The role aims to provide the successful candidate with key skill development to aid future employability, with ongoing training and support from QMSU and Badminton England.  

The successful candidate will be expected to attend all CPD opportunities provided by Badminton England and QMSU.

The candidate will attend one meeting per month with the QMSU sports development team to monitor and evaluate the programme and your own performance. 

Badminton England and QMSU will provide the Higher Education Officer with:
