Our Impact in 2018/19

Leadership Academy

Our Leadership Academy is the pathway for students to develop as coaches, mentors and officials whilst benefitting from our rewards package in return for their outreach facilitating sport and physical activity in the local community. Below are some key figures from the previous academic year:

  • 128 student leaders developed on the programme.

  • Over 1,935 hours of sport logged in the community.   

  • Engaged a participant throughput of over 12,374 in the local community.

Social Cohesion Sport

We launched this pilot programme to provide a platform for student groups to use sport as a vehicle to raise awareness of issues in the local community through the delivery of their own financially sustainable projects:

  • 7 projects delivered by 8 student groups that consisted of 95 student leaders in total.

  • Over 350 hours of sport and mentoring delivered across the projects.

  • Engaged a participant throughput of over 1,950 in the local community.

QMSU Sports Camp

We offer provision during the Easter and summer school holidays for young people aged 8-13. This takes place on campus and is led by our own student coaches who deliver up to 15 different activities each week. Below are some key figures from the previous academic year:

  • 160 unique children with a total participant throughput of 524.

  •  QMUL staff members purchased over 26% of spaces available on our Sports Camp.

  • 100% survey respondents said that they would “definitely” or “probably” register their child/children again.
