One club. Over 100 members. All standing for one thing - women in sport.
One club. Over 100 members. All standing for one thing - women in sport. Queen Mary University Netball Club has led as one of the largest female societies at the university for many years. Our mission? To make it known that girls who play netball together, stay together. Over the years, we have built more than just a society. Through the power of our connections on court, we have built a sisterhood that spans across generations, a legacy that welcomes anyone into our family with welcome arms and a place for our members to call home.
Who are we?
We are a club built on ambition, inclusivity, and unwavering support for one another. Queen Mary University Netball Club is home to players of all abilities – from those discovering netball for the first time to experienced athletes competing week after week. What unites us is not just our love for the sport, but our shared commitment to uplifting women both on and off the court. Training sessions are spaces of growth and encouragement, match days are driven by pride and resilience, and every member is valued for what they bring to our collective success. At its core, our club is a safe and empowering environment where women are encouraged to challenge themselves, form lifelong friendships, and find confidence through sport.

Our wins
At the heart of our club are four competitive teams, each driven by passion, resilience, and a shared belief in what women can achieve through sport. Our past LUSL titles and strong performances in BUCS are moments we are incredibly proud of, not just for the silverware, but for what they are: commitment, unity, and the hours of unseen work put in by our players. We have been fortunate to welcome athletes who have progressed through elite pathways, including former London Pulse players, whose presence has inspired excellence and ambition throughout the club.
Yet our greatest progress goes far beyond results. In recent years, our membership has grown to reflect the diversity of the Queen Mary community itself, creating a space where women from all backgrounds feel seen, supported, and empowered. By expanding our social leagues alongside our competitive programme, we have opened the doors of netball to more women than ever before - offering not just a sport, but a sense of belonging. Every new member, every team, and every shared success strengthens our pride in a club that is not only winning games but changing what women’s sport can look like.
The women behind the magic
At the core of our club is a committee of women whose leadership extends far beyond their titles. Together, they balance academic life with the responsibility of running one of the university’s largest female societies, united by a shared commitment to advancing women in sport, both within netball and across the wider Queen Mary community.
Key to our development player progression is Carmen, who leads our development teams with care and purpose, ensuring that every member can grow, progress, and feel confident on court. Her work reflects the club’s belief that development is just as important as performance.
Leading the society is our President, Shreya, whose mission centres on championing women in sport at every level. Alongside guiding the club, she sits on the Club Sport Board, advocating for better sporting experiences for all women at Queen Mary - not just netballers. Her involvement in community outreach with younger generations further reinforces the club’s commitment to creating lasting impact beyond university.
Ensuring that competition runs smoothly for all teams is Aaliyah, whose organisation and attention to detail allow match days to run seamlessly week after week. Her behind-the-scenes work is essential to turning preparation into performance.
Our values of giving back are championed by Hannah and Winnie, who lead the club’s charitable efforts by supporting female-focused causes and organisations. Their work ensures that our success on court is matched by meaningful contribution beyond it.
On court, our captains - Daisy, Natasha, Avantika, Sana, Inaya, Ning, Aks, and Yasmin - act as the eyes and ears of the club, leading with empathy, accountability, and pride, and ensuring every player feels supported and heard.
Alongside these roles, our wider committee works tirelessly across welfare, media, finance, and operations to ensure the club stays inclusive, accessible, and sustainable. Together, they form the backbone of a society built on trust, collaboration, and shared purpose.
This collective leadership is what allows our club to thrive - not just as a competitive netball society, but as a community that empowers women to lead, compete, and give back.

Community and outreach
Our commitment to women in sport extends far beyond the university. This year, Queen Mary University Netball Club delivered a six-week introductory netball programme at Globe Primary School, working with young female pupils to build confidence, teamwork, and a love for sport from an early age. For many, it was their first experience of organised sport, highlighting the importance of access and representation.
We have also supported local initiatives through organisations such as Sport Inspired, contributing to their Young Women’s Festival and helping create inclusive spaces for young women to engage with sport. Alongside this, our club actively fundraises for causes close to women’s health and wellbeing, including Endometriosis UK.
Our involvement in Wilders London Fight Night, which raises funds for the Oddballs Foundation, reflects the many ways our members give back. With members Jaime and Lauren competing, Verity supporting ringside, and our President Shreya sitting on the executive team, our outreach is driven by women leading change together.

Why Women’s Sport Deserves More
Despite the progress made, women’s sport continues to face challenges in funding, visibility, and recognition. Yet the impact of investing in women’s sport is undeniable. It creates confident leaders, stronger communities, and spaces where women feel empowered to take up room and challenge expectations. Our club is proof that when women are supported, they thrive — not only as athletes, but as mentors, organisers, and role models. Investing in women’s sport is not an added extra; it is essential to creating an equal and inclusive sporting culture.
Looking Forward
As we look ahead, our focus remains on growth, accessibility, and legacy. We aim to continue expanding opportunities for women to take part in netball at all levels, strengthen our community outreach, and build on the inclusive culture we are proud of. We want to ensure that every woman who joins our club feels supported, valued, and inspired. Our journey is about more than results — it is about creating lasting impact and leaving women’s sport stronger than we found it.
