Queen Mary University of London HEMA club are looking for an enthusiastic and talented coach to run the training sessions for the club for the upcoming academic year. The club currently competes in open categories at the Wessex league, as well as the beginner’s category at Tempest leagues. The club would like to raise awareness of the sport across the University by winning events and building a consistent base of dedicated members. The ideal applicant would have experience.would have experience in teaching classes of 20 + people, and experience in training competition teams at championship level.
Required Qualifications and Certifications
• Relevant Coaching Qualification
• First Aid Certificate
• Relevant Insurance
Training Days
X1 session every 2 weeks, Wednesday 14:00-16:00 (exact date and time may be subject to change). Qmotion Sports Hall (15 Godward Square, London, E1 4FZ).
Job Description
• Plan and lead training sessions to a group of mixed ability members with diverse backgrounds and experience of the sport
• Build confidence of returning members and keep retention rates up
• Provide coaching expertise to improve the quality and standard of training
• Be experienced in multiple fencing styles
• Develop the club to be more competitive and win as many competitions as possible
• Be passionate about the sport and building an inclusive and fun environment for members
• Have an understanding of higher education sport
• Focus on improving members technique to prevent injury
• Work with the club committee to achieve the clubs aims and objectives for this year
• Display good coaching conduct in line with Queen Mary Student's Union Code of Conduct
