We’re looking for proactive, sociable people to join our Venues and Events team. Our department is the heart of QMSU’s student events, with the role covering Bar service, Kitchen service, Barista service and Events. Successful candidates will work in all areas as venues team members serving customers on the bar, floor, door and cloakroom and preparing food in the kitchen as well as providing hospitality across all our campuses. As a Venues Team Member, you get the opportunity to undertake a range of roles and training, gaining valuable hospitality experience. The right candidate will be enthusiastic, proactive and able to perform under pressure, whether that’s during a lunch rush or our infamous Hail Mary club nights. As the face of our venues and events, candidates must be trustworthy, empathetic and approachable.
Though most shifts are completed Monday to Friday, staff are expected to work at least one 3am finish (usually Wednesday or Friday) per month and provide occasional weekend availability when required. Our staff are required to work Hail Mary/Final Whistle monthly.
Please note: this role will start in full in September 2026, with an expectation to complete paid training over the summer. Attendance at both days of our 2-day training session on August 31st and September 1st is compulsory.
Please read through the job description below carefully to ensure you meet the requirements before applying. Only students who will be enrolled at Queen Mary University of London in the 2026-2027 academic year can apply for this role. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.
To apply please complete and submit your online application form before the deadline of 23:59 Sunday 31st May 2026. The recruitment sessions (approx. 2-3 hours) will be on Monday 8th June 2026 or Tuesday 9th June 2026 and will be held in person.
