Brand new QMSU magazine striving to project the voices of students of colour!
Are you a student of colour at Queen Mary University of London? Are you tired of being underrepresented? Do you want to tell your story; share your opinions; and have your perspective valued?
Diaspora Speaks has been created for you. This is a magazine that features writing exclusively from students of colour! It is the first of its kind at the university because for us diversity isn’t a bullet point at the end of a list. Instead, it is a priority.
This is an editorial environment that illuminates the voices of the Diaspora; projects minority perspectives, and invites you on a journey to find your identity. We want to nurture independent thought and fresh perspectives. Ethnic minority students from all courses and all walks of life are welcome here. We accept a range of work such as articles, creative writing, personal essays, artwork and much more. Our sections include Features; Culture & Lifestyle; Media; First-Person; Style & Beauty; and Expression. There is a section for everyone. This isn’t a space to feel limited; this is a space to break the boundaries of writing as you know it.
We will have monthly updates of all your work to our website as well as one print editions per year. If you’re looking to improve your writing and journalistic abilities, make sure to attend one of our writing workshops.
We’re always on the hunt for new contributors: writers, artists, and creatives of any kind included. Get in touch with us on social media or by email, if you want to get involved!
