Hello, my name is Charlotte and I am your Commercial Services Officer for this academic year. I am a second year MSc student at Barts and work at the Ground Café on our Mile End campus.

This year things will be slightly different on campus, which is why hearing the opinions and suggestions of our students is more important than ever. I am here to represent everyone’s interests and be the voice of those who use our commercial services across all three campuses. This year I want to actively develop the commercial services of the Union by working on matters that our students and student staff members have raised. I hope to focus on sustainability issues throughout our services and introduce a wider, better, and more affordable range of vegan, gluten, and dairy free options. Making our SU an even better place to work is a top priority and together with the Union’s executive officers I hope to introduce a better employee reward scheme. Additionally an online anonymous suggestion forum, accessible to all, should be up and running soon and I can’t wait to hear more of your suggestions!

About the role:

The Commercial Services Officer shall seek feedback and be responsible for representing the interests of the Students’ Union’s commercial services student staff and members who use these services. 



  • Represent the interests of the Union’s commercial services student staff
  • Be the voice of the members who are using the commercial services of the Union
  • Convene and co-ordinate the Students’ Union Commercial Services Committee
  • Assist relevant members of Union staff with events, training and general support for the development of commercial services on campus
  • Actively work to develop the Union’s commercial services
  • Fulfil additional duties as outlined in the Bye-Laws


Meetings I attend:

  • Student Council (2 hour meeting, five times a year)
  • Union Development Board (2 hour meeting, five times a year)
  • Commercial Services Committee (monthly)
  • QMSU Services Board (2 – 3 hour meeting, five times a year)
