Institute of Health Sciences Education Senior Rep

About the role:

The School of Medical and Dental Sciences Clinical (Medicine) Representative will gather feedback from and represent students who are studying in Year 3, 4, or 5 of the MBBS program as well as any other student studying within the Institute of Health Sciences Education. You’ll work as part of the Education Zone, co-chair the Senior SSLC (Student Staff Liaison Committee), and support the Vice President Barts and The London, and encouraging students in the faculty to participate and engage with the Students’ Union.

Responsibilities:

• Engage with and lobby Queen Mary University of London and other relevant organisations to achieve improvements for clinical-years MB BS students
• Seek feedback from dental students in order accurately to represent their interests
• Where appropriate, support the Executive Committee in their duties and responsibilities and seek support from them with respect to their own duties and responsibilities
• Cooperate and coordinate with other SMD Representatives and the Dental Society President, where appropriate
• Liaise with members of student groups relevant to their role
• Co-chair the MB BS Senior Student-Staff Liaison Committee

Meetings that I attend:

• Student Council (2 hour meeting, four to five times a year)
• BLSA Board (two hours, six times a year)
• MB BS Senior SSLC (monthly)
