About the role:

Are you interested in working to achieve improvements for women students? The Women's Representative (Mile End) will have the opportunity represent the interests of female Mile End students on the issues they face, gathering feedback and campaigning for change. You’ll be supporting the Vice President Communities, convening with the Students’ Union's Women’s Forum, and speaking to relevant clubs, societies and student groups to identify key areas which we can improve. To encourage more women to participate and engage with the Students’ Union, you’ll also have the option to plan and deliver events, fostering a sense of community for our female students!

 

Responsibilities:
  • Engage with and lobby Queen Mary University of London and other relevant organisations to achieve improvements for their students
  • Attend relevant meetings within the Students’ Union and the university (see list of compulsory meetings below)
  • Seek feedback from women students in order to accurately represent their interests
  • Where appropriate, support the Executive Officers in their duties and responsibilities and seek support from them with respect to their own duties and responsibilities
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Women’s Representative (BL) and other liberation representatives where appropriate
  • Liaise with members of student groups relevant to their role
  • Provide regular updates on your work to the students you represent

 

Meetings that I attend:
  • Student Council (2 hour meeting, five times a year
  • Welfare Board (1.5 hour meeting, five times a year
  • Communities Board (1.5 hour meeting, five times a year)
