Subject Acccess Request
You have the right to access information that we hold about you. You may submit a Subject Access Request to ask for this. Please use our form linked below or alternatively email us at su-qmsu.reception@qmul.ac.uk or visit us at the Students' Union Hub.
Subject Access Requests will normally be processed within 2 weeks once we have confirmed your identity. In large or more complex cases the process can take up to six weeks - in this case we would let you know the new timeline.

Data Breach
We know how important it is to protect your data. However, in the event of a data breach we want to know about it. We have an obligation to promptly investigate any data breach brought to our attention.
Please act promptly to report any data breaches. If you discover a data breach, please fill out the form linked below ASAP. We will need to contact you as part of our investigation, so please ensure you provide your contact details

CCTV Policy
Queen Mary University of London Student' Union uses Close Circuit Television (“CCTV”) within the premises. The purpose of this policy is to set out the position of the Union as to the management, operation and use of the CCTV at the Students' Union premises. This policy applies to all members of QMSU staff & visitors to any of QMSU premises and all other persons whose images may be captured by the CCTV system.

Statement of Rights
All students and any data subjects of QMSU have the following rights in relation to their personal data:
To be informed about how, why and on what basis their data is processed. This is typically detailed on our Privacy and Data Policies page.
To obtain confirmation that their data is being processed and to obtain access to it and certain other information, by making a subject access request
To have any data corrected if it is incomplete or inaccurate
To have data erased if it is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was originally collected / processed, or if there are no overriding legitimate grounds for the processing (this is sometimes known as "the right to be forgetten")
To restrict the processing of personal data where the accuracy of the information is contested, or the processing is unlawful (but the data subject does not want the data to be erased), or where QMSU no longer needs the personal data but the data subject requires the data to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim
To restrict the processing of personal data temporarily where the data subject does not think it is accurate, or where the data subject has objected to the processing
Staff Training
As part of their employment with QMSU, all staff must complete the Cybersecurity and GDPR e-learning module provided by QMUL. This is normally completed as part of a staff members induction and is mandatory for all staff working at Queen Mary.

As a Students’ Union, listening to students and acting on the feedback we receive is part of our mission and a core activity undertaken regularly by most teams across QMSU’s charitable and commercial services. This policy outlines some basic principles for how we collect and store data in terms of feedback, and the steps we take when we want to collect feedback data from students.
