About

Community Sport is a Sport Leadership and Workforce Development Programme, run by the Students' Union, that develops both our students and sport within Tower Hamlets and neighbouring boroughs. Since August 2013 our students have logged over 3000 hours of sport within the local community and over 120 of these students have gained qualifications as coaches/officials.

Through the programme, students will increase their employability through our free training and CPD opportunities and can benefit from receiving a host of rewards including fully-funded qualifications in return for their involvement in the community. Students can engage as coaches, officials and mentors in individual placements or as a group in student-led projects.

In 2015 we were nominated by Times Higher Education in the category of "Outstanding Contribution to the Local Community", as well as by London Sport in the category of "Bigger and Better Workforce” and shortlisted for the “Workforce Programme of the Year” at the BUCS Awards 2017.
