Ways to get involved:

School Clubs:

Delivering lunch/afterschool sessions as a group of volunteers or as a qualified lead coach with local primary and secondary schools in Tower Hamlets.

Local Sport Clubs:

Assisting coaches at local grassroots clubs with the intention of progressing to lead on sessions. Our partner clubs include Acorn FC, Wapping Youth FC and Vallance CSA.

Leyton Orient Football Club:

Employment opportunities as paid coaches with Leyton Orient Trust delivering school session and holiday camps.

FA University Grassroots Hub:

We receive funding to develop all areas of our football and futsal offer which will include new ways for students to engage with the community each year and develop as coaches, officials and mentors.

O2 Touch:

We have a number of leadership roles available for students who are interested in supporting our weekly touch rugby sessions that are completely free and open to the public.

Assisting coaches with their delivery of discounted community sessions across various courts in the borough.

CSL Netball:

Voluntary/Paid opportunities to umpire at our community-facing social sport leagues. You will receive a host of benefits through our umpire package.

Go Mammoth:

Qualified umpires frequently get involved with additional employment opportunities through Go Mammoth.

We now welcome leaders from all sport backgrounds. Get in touch with us so that we can help to find opportunities that suit you.

Social Cohesion Project:

This brand new offer provides a platform for sport clubs and student groups to deliver their own projects that use sport to drive positive change in the community.

Inclusive Sport:

We successfully applied to be a Co-op Local Community Cause and have received funding to deliver inclusive sport sessions for school children in the borough. This is a great opportunity for students who would be interested in gaining inclusive sport qualifications and helping to provide activity for young people with disabilities.

Sport Mentoring:

These sessions typically involve working with local housing associations in their youth clubs and community centres to provide opportunities to engage in sport with short periods of mentoring integrated throughout to cover a range of topics including academic support, personal goals and career pathways.

QMSU Sports Camp:

Coaching up to 15 different sports per week during the Easter and Summer holiday periods for young people aged 8-13. Paid and voluntary roles available. We are now accepting expressions of interest for the Voluntary Camp Coach role. Please email: communitysport@qmul.ac.uk
