Notice from the Deputy Returning Officer to All Election Candidates
8 May 2026
Posters
If posters are put up in unauthorised spaces, or in unreasonable numbers, staff are authorised to remove them. This is to avoid causing a nuisance and to ensure that all candidates have the opportunity to display posters. Candidates breaching this rule may also be subject to sanction under the Elections Bye-Law.
Endorsements and Publicity in Group Chats
Candidates are reminded that postings by, or endorsing of, candidates in ‘official’ student group chats is not allowed (whether or not it is in a ‘personal capacity’). Student Groups found to be breaking this rule will be required to remove the publicity or endorsement, and to publicise the names of all candidates standing for the positions in question. A request may also be issued to Student Engagement requesting that the Group in question be sanctioned for breaching the Elections Bye-Law.
