This project seeks to foster a deeper understanding of how environmental justice and racial injustice intersect. In the words of Leah Thomas, author of The Intersectional Environmentalist “We should care about the protection of people as much as we care about the protection of our planet-to me, these fights are the same”. By recognizing the overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination and disadvantage, we can gain insight into how to address the unique challenges faced by marginalized communities and we can put forward comprehensive strategies for positive impact and change.
