No – Registration for Get Active is completely FREE! In order to attend sessions you will need to have registered which can be done online or at reception in Qmotion.
Once you have registered you can attend sessions on a pay as you go basis. For each session, you can either pay online in advance, or just turn up on the day and pay at the session (subject to available space)
To offer customers with more choice we also offer Unlimited Session Passes which provide a significant saving for more regular participants. Unlimited passes are available for Semester One and Two.
Equipment will be provided for all sessions however you are more than welcome to bring your own. Please note that we will not accept responsibility for any loss or damage of personal equipment which occurs during a Get Active session.
We have a relaxed approach to what you wear at Get Active sessions and no sports equipment or specific clothing is required. Anything that you are comfortable in will be fine!
These are sessions run on and around campus where all you need to do is turn up and take part in the session. No regular commitment is required, either sign-up in advance or pop along on the day and give it a go. The sessions will be led by fully qualified coaches or our trained Student Activators and all equipment will be provided.
Please note spaces are capped on all sessions to ensure participant enjoyment and safety. Spaces are allocated on a first come-first served basis
Get Active is dedicated to supporting students with disabilities and we actively engage with the QMSU equal opportunities policy to ensure inclusion of all our participants in our sessions. If you have any special requirements please let us know before the session and we will try our best to accommodate these.
For all sessions taking place in the QMotion Health & Fitness Centre, changing rooms and showers are available should you wish to use them. Lockers are also available however you will need to supply your own padlock.
They are no different to our standard Get Active sessions however they are only open to female participants and are staffed only by female activators/coaches. These sessions help to provide a fun, relaxed environment for all women to participate.
No – the nature of our turn up and play sessions mean that you can turn up and join in at any time or leave early if you want to.
We work with Mile End Park Leisure Centre to offer you more choice in when to go swimming. Simply purchase a swimming voucher from Qmotion or BLSA Reception. There are sessions taking place every day of the week – check out the timetables here.
Absolutely yes! Get Active is designed to cater for all abilities, whether you have never played before or participate regularly. Our friendly Student Activators can help if you’re just getting started and coaches are available on some of our sessions to help improve your techniques and skills. To find out which sessions will be coached check out the timetable or contact email@example.com.
If you want to take part in a sport that is not on our timetable please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. If there is sufficient demand then we can look at adding new sessions to our programme or we may be able to direct you to one of our partners where you can take part in your sport.
We are not able to provide refunds for tickets however we can transfer your ticket to another session provided we are given 24 hours notice. To transfer your ticket email email@example.com
with details of the session you have purchased a ticket for and which session you would like to transfer it to. Unlimited Passes, Get Active Course fees and taster sessions are completely non-refundable.
Error messages which may appear when trying to book online are:
Product Sales Limit Reached: This usually means that the session is fully booked. Why not check out one of our other sessions happening through the week?
Per Person Limit Reached: Each person can only reserve one space per session. You may have previously reserved a space on this session.

All of our Get Active sessions are open to QM Staff and Alumni.
Unfortunately we are not able to allow guests who are not QM alumni to take part in sessions.
