We Make Films
Welcome! We are a society dedicated to celebrating the art of filmmaking, with a central goal of encouraging members to express their creativity and individuality to the fullest extent, as well as to connect and collaborate with likeminded creatives.
Becoming a member allows you access to a community of fellow filmmakers, resources to fully develop your skills, and a platform to display your work and share with others.
We encourage students from all levels of experience to join, there are plenty of resources for beginners and experts alike.
We're delighted to announce that we will be carrying on the Filmmaking Society's tradition of hosting monthly film festivals, this semester completely via video call!
Whether you're living on campus, elsewhere or studying from outside the UK, ANYONE with a membership will be able to participate. Each month we will select a theme, and then it's down to you to individually produce a short film to be screened at our virtual festival. Prizes will be awarded to the best films
All you need is your phone/camera, and lots of creativity!
Don't worry if you're a beginner - we'll be holding practical workshops over video call to help you learn the basics.
This will be useful for members who are aspiring towards a career in media/film, learning these skills will boost your employability and improve your CV!
We'll be hosting an editing workshop in October where you'll learn the basics of Adobe Premiere Pro, more details TBA
As a way to engage with our lovely members, we're launching weekly spotlights on our Instagram!
Each week we will post an Instagram TV/Reel featuring a different member. They will be able to talk about their love of filmmaking, their favourite films, or anything that they want to share with the society.
The aim of this is to connect members with each other, increasing networking opportunities and to build a friendly community of filmmakers in this period of social isolation.
