Environmental Society

About

The Environmental Society provides an opportunity for students to be proactive on campus by raising awareness about current environmental issues and to instil a sense of responsibility and commitment in the university's administration to make environmentally conscious decisions.

The main aims of the Environmental Society are:

1. To run campaigns to make the Queen Mary campus a more environmentally friendly place.

2. To encourage all students to make environmentally-conscious decisions in their everyday lives.

3. To educate members about the world's current environmental state.

The Environmental Society hosts a range of environmental-themed social events throughout the year aimed to make friends, network and socialise. We are a society for everyone interested in sustainabilty, and we are not subject or school specific, welcoming students from every degree!

Events will range from movie nights to guest speaker conferences to vegan restaurant trips and thrift shopping! Purchasing a membership gives you access to all of our events for free or heavily discounted.

The Environmental Society also works alongside Green Mary! Green Mary events, run by the University's sustainability team, are open to all students and are free to take part in. Their focus is to improve sustainability on campus through campaigns, events and initiatives (e.g. canal clean-ups, litter picks and gardening volunteering).
