Hello! We are a moving image enthusiasm society that focuses on the curation of screening less known or abstract film/tv episodes/short films/online videos, encouraging people within the society to curate their own screening events where they will promote the event as well as write an introduction and/or programme notes which could contain insight into the film's implications, history, reception and legacy.
We aim to expose film enthusiasts to a variety of visual media that they wouldn't typically get the chance to see on a big screen, while also creating a community that want to share and discuss their favourite less mainstream films with the rest of the group.
Our events will be relaxed and accessible, with regular screenings in the Hitchcock cinema, with the option to join us afterwards to discuss the film and socialise at the pub!
We differ from the cinema society due to our broad interest in other moving images, such as television, rather than focusing specifically on films. In general, the line up of media that we wish to screen will be less mainstream than that of the cinema society, with the intent to broaden our knowledge of moving image media. Furthermore, the encouragement of the participation of other members to get involved in organising screenings, and in turn create a stronger sense of community, is at the forefront of our society.
