QM Data Protection Society

The data protection laws around the globe have either recently come into effect or are still at the developing stage. Few of these examples include General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) of Europe and Data Protection Act of U.K. Notably, these data protection laws have its implications over a large global population. The organisations, companies and even individuals have to adhere to these regulations as any breach of the same may attract heavy penalties. 

In this regard, QM Data Protection Society seeks to resolve these issues and thereby raise awareness about the GDPR and other relevant legal frameworks on data protection law. As a student-led society at Queen Mary University of London, we aim to provide our members with excellent opportunities to learn about careers within the field of data protection and to network with various privacy professionals.

By organisation of academic events, promotion of opportunities and healthy discussions, we seek to bridge the gap between our members and this niche area of law which is developing and intriguing, although often seemingly, difficult to approach.

The membership of the society is open for all students at Queen Mary University of London, regardless of their course or stream.
