The Student group Awards give you all the opportunity to nominate your society or an individual without your society to get recognised for their hard work throughout the year.
The Student group Awards give you all the opportunity to nominate your society or an individual without your society to get recognised for their hard work throughout the year. Please read all of the awards carefully and submit your nominations by 7th March to be considered.
The application process is simple, you will need to download the blank application form for the awards from the relevant award section i.e when you click on ‘society of the year’ you can find the nomination form, then fill in the relevant gaps. Please note, you can only use one form per submission, if you are submitting for multiple awards please use separate application forms.
Once the deadline has passed, we will be creating a longlist to present to our judging panel who will then make a shortlist and pick a winner, we will notify you throughout the process.
Once you have filled it in, please upload it to the google form below, where will be collating the responses.

Group Awards:
This award recognises societies that go above and beyond – whether through engaging events, promoting inclusive activity, championing sustainability or providing diverse opportunities.
Society of the year Nomination form
This Award recognises a group of students who have successfully put on an event that deserves to be celebrated.
Outstanding event of the year Nomination form.
This award recognises a group of students who have successfully put on a collaborative event that deserves to be celebrated.
Collaborative event of the year Nomiination form
This will be awarded to a student group who has continued to promote their members personal development and has organised a range of informative and engaging activities/events centred around employability or academia
Academic or proffesional development Nomination form
This will be awarded to a student group who have promoted an environment that welcomes all students, that combats discrimination and prejudice, and remains committed in representing the diverse student body of Queen Mary University.
Diversity and Inclsuion Nomination form
This award celebrates the smaller student groups (4 committee members or less) who make a big impact on the students they deliver activity for.
Small group with a big impact Nomination form
This will be awarded to a student group who has continued to promote their members wellbeing and has organised a range of engaging activities/events to support students.
Wellbeing Nomination form.
This will be awarded to a student group who has made a positive impact on the world around them through activities seeking to address global challenges such as environmental sustainability or climate change.
Sustainability Impact Nomination form
This will be awarded to the student group who has proved they value their members and have built a strong community. There are two awards in this category, to recognise our different communities: Mile End students, BL students.
Student Community Nomination form
Individual Awards
As a committee member, students are required to balance their university work, personal lives and student group activities. This will be awarded to the committee member who has committed themselves to their student group despite personal challenges.
This will be awarded to a committee member who has used their communication skills to effectively promote their student group and to collaborate effectively within their student group. They will have listened carefully to the perspectives of other individuals.
This will be awarded to the committee member who has worked well within their committee, through acting with integrity and fairness. They will have shown respect for their members and taken responsibility.
This will be awarded to a committee member who has used critical and creative thinking to address challenges that their student group has faced this academic year.
This will be awarded to the committee member who has reflected on the world around them and used this to create a positive environment. They will have striven to make their student group inclusive, diverse and sought to address external challenges such as environmental sustainability, inequality, climate change, peace and justice.
This will be awarded to the committee member who knows Queen Mary Students’ Union’s policies like the back of their hand! They can’t get enough of training, and always work to make sure that their student group adheres to procedures to be the best they can be.
