Student Media Outlets Win Regional Awards

2 of our Student Media Outlets won awards at this year’s Student Publication Association’s Regional Awards! Our outlets were up against the best student newspapers and magazines from across London and took away 3 awards in total.

Diaspora Speaks won ‘The Best Newcomer Publication in London’ and their Co-Editor-in-Chief, Sawdah Bhaimiya, won ‘Outstanding Commitment Award’. Diaspora Speaks is a magazine striving to project the voices of students of colour. You can find about more about them here.

CUB’s music contributor, Finlay Hillman-Brown, won ‘Highly Commended in the Best Journalist’ category. CUB is our arts and culture magazine and you can find out more about them here.

CUB said the following on their Twitter: “We would like to say how incredibly proud we are of Finlay, from our music section, for SPA's award for Best Journalist in London! To have received this award is such an honour and they truly deserve this recognition for their hard work”.

And here’s a note from Diaspora Speaks: "We are so proud to have received two awards from the Student Publication Association. To be considered the 'Best Newcomer Publication in London' is such an honour and we're extremely grateful that our hard work and efforts have been recognised!"

A huge congratuations to these 2 outlets and all their student contributers.
