Your Executive Officers and Students' Union have been working Library Services to ensure that the services and spaces of the library meet your needs.
The Students' Union President and the three Faculty Vice Presidents have been working closesly with colleagues from the Library Services team across a range of initiatives over the summer and start of term. The officers meet monthly with Library Services to discuss projects, student feedback and the work being done in the library.
What's been happening at the library?
This year there is lots of change happening within the library, most visibly the refurbishment and re-opening of the Mile End Library. Improvements to the Mile End Library began in May 2021, focusing on:
- Redesigning the building entrance;
- Improving study spaces;
- Creating quiet study areas;
- Providing more laptops for loan and new computers;
- Refurbising the toilets
Your officers have supported the redevelopment by representing students at the project meetings and providing feedback at the regular monthly catch ups.
In October 2021, the refurbished entrance and lobby of the Mile End Library re-opened to students - find out more about it here.
You can also see the full redevelopment project update here.
What else are we doing?
There is more that the library and we are working on, including improving the provision and support available via tutoring and academic skills and providing our feedback on the long term planning of the library.
We continue our regular catch ups with the Library Services team, and will update this page with further outcomes.
