Meet Your Rep: Kshitij Kulshreshtha
We want to help you get to know your Student Council reps a bit better, so over the next few months, we'll be asking them a few questions about themselves and what they plan to do over the next year.
This week, we spoke to Kshitij Kulshreshtha, International Rep!
Tell us a bit about you, what do you study and what are your hobbies and interests?
I am reading Economics, Finance and Management, currently in my second year. Well!! I love to dance. You will often find me at drapers. Currently, being a geek about cryptocurrencies and researching on these cryptos.
What is your current role and what are you working on at the minute?
I am the International Welfare Representative. Really excited about the upcoming events which we planned. Labiba (International Education Rep) and myself, we have just started Queen Mary International Society so that we can reach a wide International students audience. Currently working on the recruitment process for the society and soon we will have drapers night (Songs from various countries), Language Café for International Mother Language Day, Karaoke night and a Youth festival.
What are you hoping to achieve by the end of this academic year?
The main aim is to provide an amazing university experience to the International Students as uni life is one of the most important and memorable time of our lives.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Personally, I think this position gave me an opportunity to meet and talk to many students. I think I learnt a lot by having conversations about their cultures, traditions, food and many more which I think I would not be able to do so if I was not holding this position. Also I gave a talk in the fresher’s week in front of 1000 international students, which I believe gave me a lot of confidence for public speaking.
If you were stranded on a desert island, which book, song and luxury item would you want to take with you?
I do not want to hear a song which will make me feel lonely and all, I think I would love to listen to a song which gives me peace and the one which I can hear anytime so it has to be – Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay. The book which I would take is Zero to One by Peter Thiel. It is an entrepreneurial book which talks about creating things from scratch. In real world, the book is about innovating whereas in the island it would help for survival. I want to take my bed with me just to have comfortable sleeps. Also, as a child after watching the Jungle Book and Tarzan, I always wanted to have conversation with animals. I hope in this island, I make some animal friends. Hahaha…
How would you sum up your role in 3 words?
