What days and times do you train? Where do you train?
Tuesday and Friday, 5:30pm-7:00pm at East London Rugby Club, nearest station West Ham (10mins from Mile End)
What makes your training sessions enjoyable?
Our training caters for all abilities, whether absolute beginners or academy level players. We do skills based work, some strength and fitness training and team plays. Tuesday sessions are lighter and focus on team runs in preparation for games on Wednesdays. Fridays are more contact based with some fitness. All sessions try to be light hearted and focused on making improvements week on week.
What was your club’s biggest success of the past year?
As a club we raised almost £2000 for Movember, our club charity for the year. Everyone in the club was involved in some way, either by growing a moustache or taking part in other charity sport events. We were also successful in recruiting and retaining a lot of freshers in September, all of whom have played a full game for the first team. We now have a great base of players from which to build upon next season and really pose a threat in the league.
So why should you get involved?
Playing rugby is a great way to meet new people, learn a new skill and improve your fitness. It also provides a great break from revision or work and is a healthy way to relieve stress. Again, we are are open to all abilities.
And a final fun fact about this club?
We are one of the longest standing sports clubs at Queen Mary. Also, we're the most fun!
