This week we are shining the light onto our amazing Barts and the London Squash Club! Get the low down on everything you need to know about this club below.
What days and times do you train? Where do you train?
We train every Wednesday from 2-4pm at Finsbury Leisure Centre, right next to Barbican Station.
What makes your training sessions enjoyable?
Training with us is good fun whether you're really into your squash or just fancy burning some energy! With so many of our members having not played too much before - our coach and captains always take the time to show newer members the ropes.
We're such a friendly club that it really doesn't matter if you haven't heard of squash before! Each training session is two hours long and guided by our coach and captains. With great facilities in a great location coming to training is a really easy way to get in some great exercise.
What was your club’s biggest success of the past year?
This year, our brilliant first team managed to reach the finals of a very competitive UH cup!
They played some inspired squash throughout the term to secure themselves a place in the final only narrowly losing to a very strong and more experienced side.
We hope to go on and win the competition next year!
So why should you get involved?
Squash is a convenient and enjoyable way to get in your exercise!
We're a really friendly club who love to welcome new and experienced members to such a fantastic sport. Squash is a fun and tiring sport which really doesn't need much expertise (it's just hitting a ball against a wall right?).
Throughout the year we are fortunate enough to be able to host tournaments and watch professional squash at the Canary Wharf Classic - a highlight every year!
And a final fun fact about this club?
We host tournaments every term with an absolutely brilliant mystery prize....
Don't forget if you are a Barts and the London student you can come along to any of Squash’s training sessions, just turn up. Get in touch with the club committee via one of their social media page below for more information.
