This week we are shining the light onto our amazing Queen Mary Netball Club! Get the low down on everything you need to know about this club below.
What days and times do you train? Where do you train?
On Tuesdays we train! We all train at St Paul's Way School in Bow, just a short walk from campus, either 6pm to 7:30pm or 7:30pm to 9pm!
It doesn't matter what your ability is, there's a training session for you, whether that be with our new coach Colyn, or with our home grown TLV (Tanya Tan, Leslie Bonlong and Vanessa Stewart).
What makes your training sessions enjoyable?
Regardless of what team you join and what session you attend, you will be pushed to achieve your best!
Training for the first to fourth teams can be intense, we start with a bit of fitness, ball drills and a lot of match play to iron out any wrinkles that may happen in our games.
The social teams training sessions are focused more on skill development but follow a similar format of fitness, drills and match play!
We train to music to keep energies high and constantly congratulate good play and improvements across all teams.
We cater to all kinds of player whether you've never played before or if you came out the womb in a netball dress! There's a team for you and our training sessions only enhance your game play.
In addition our 1st and 2nd team also have an additional fitness class on a Friday morning at Qmotion with Chris to keep them in tip top shape between training and games. It's super intense but definitely keeps them in top shape, for their BUCS fixtures.
What was your club’s biggest success of the past year?
It's been a great year at QMN but our successes on off the court, have led us to be nominated for nine sports awards!!! We've had teams topping their leagues, charity events raising over £3000, and successful consent week video circulating the internet!
So why should you get involved?
We're the biggest female sports club on campus and QMN has something to offer everyone, we have members that never pick up a netball and members that literally play every day!
Our members take on active roles within volunteering, charity work, coaching, umpiring, playing, and even propping up the bar at drapers! Most girls can attest to the family feel here at QMN, we all work together to achieve success across the board and have a great time doing it!
And a final fun fact about this club?
We launched a YouTube channel this year, check out our videos here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJ-oTASUfuP3jzyu3P1aevg/videos
