Sporting Focus: QMBL American Football Club

This week we are shining the light onto our amazing Queen Mary Barts and the London American Football Club! Get the low down on everything you need to know about this club below.

What days and times do you train? Where do you train?

Friday Nights, 6:30-9pm at East London Rugby Club.

What makes your training sessions enjoyable?

We have a great team atmosphere and an expansive coaching staff. We like to ensure that all club members get the attention from coaches to make them into better players and ultimately enjoy the game more.

Training ranges from individual drills to simulated game situations and 11v11 scrimmages. We feel this allows both absolute beginners to learn the game but also keeps the more experience guys and girls interested at the same time.

What was your club’s biggest success of the past year?

This year we were promoted to Division 1.

Having missed out by one win last year, leaving a bitter taste in many of our players mouths, achieving promotion this season was a well-deserved reward for the hard work we've put in all season.

So why should you get involved?

American Football is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK both in terms of people watching the sport and playing it.

With most Universities having a team, there are plenty of games to be played each season and a massive opportunity to get involved with the sport. As well as this we offer numerous socials throughout the year ranging from team meals to nights out.

And a final fun fact about this club?

We're the third best Netball team at QM.

Don't forget if you are a Queen Mary or Barts and the London student, male or female, you can come along to any of American Football’s training sessions, just turn up. Get in touch with the club committee via one of their social media pages below for more information.
