We as a Students’ Union have taken the decision to close all our spaces from tomorrow (Wednesday 18th March) until further notice due to the Coronavirus outbreak. This includes our shops, bars, cafes, Qmotion Sport & Fitness Centre, the Students’ Union Hub and BLSA. Our spaces will be open until their normal closing time this evening. This follows our earlier announcement that all Students’ Union events are postponed and cancelled until further notice. We know this will inconvenience many of you, but the wellbeing of our students and staff is our priority.
Our staff team are working from home and will be contactable via email. Please visit www.qmsu.org for further information about how to contact us.
Essential updates regarding the Students’ Union and this closure will be available at www.qmsu.org. Our social media pages will also feature advice about wellbeing, mental health and signpost to advice and support.
If you have any personal belongings that you need to collect from any of our spaces please ensure you do this today by 5pm, or contact us if this is not possible and we will discuss alternatives.
Our student staff will be paid for the rest of March despite this closure, and we are looking at how we can pay them during an extended closure period.
We thank all students for their understanding about this. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
If you are worried about Coronavirus please see advice from Public Health England here and from the University here.
On behalf of the Executive Team,
Chair of the Board of Trustees
