Do you want to become more involved in your Students’ Union?
Would you like to have the opportunity to scrutinise the work of your Elected Representatives?
Will you volunteer to join the QMSU Scrutiny Panel?
The Scrutiny Panel reports to Student Council and was set up to discuss and feedback on the work of Student Council Members and the Unions Executive Officers.
The Panel meets before each Student Council and receives reports from each of the Part Time Officers and the full time Executive Officers.
As well as reports from all of the elected representatives, the Panel receives an in-person presentation from each Executive Officer and has the chance to question them about their work and leadership of the Students’ Union.
The Panel is made up of three members of Student Council and four members of the wider student community. The Panel is chaired by the Chair of Student Council.
Panel members are drawn at random from a pool of volunteers and notified if they required to attend before each Panel meeting.
No experience is required as training will be provided.
The Panel dates for this academic year are:
- Monday 23 November 2020 - 5pm
- Monday 25 January 2021 - 5pm
- Monday 8 March 2021 - 5pm
Panel meetings last between 2 and 3 hours and will be held on line.
This opportunity is open to any student and is also an excellent opportunity for any one who is thinking about standing for election to Student Council, or as an Executive Officer in the future to find out more about the work of the various roles.
If you are available for the scheduled meeting dates and would like to be included in the pool of volunteers, please send your details to b.coales@qmul.ac.uk.
