Wellness Week this October

This year, your Vice President Welfare Ella Harvey will be running three Wellness Weeks. These weeks are designed to assist students at Queen Mary before they hit a crisis point, for example before difficulties get too much and before major exams. These weeks will provide students with tips and activities to help students to carry out and practice self-care. This week will focus on the five key ways to wellbeing: Give Back, Connect, Be Mindful, Learn and Get Active, 

The activities will be suitable for students who want to improve their overall wellbeing and students who may be startng to experience difficulties. The weeks will form part of our long-running Be Kind To Your Mind campaign, which sees the Students' Union providing students with the tools and tips to keep healthy and active and to show you that with a little bit of self-love and TLC (tender loving care) they are able to manage the normal stresses of being a student and not let it get on top of them.

By taking some time for self-care you can manage your mind and avoid burning out! Always remember, never be afraid to reach out, and seek help. You can find out more about the Be Kind To Your Mind campaign here.

Tues 9th Oct - Volunteering stall
Giving your time to others can really improve your wellbeing, you just need to find an activity that works for you. To give you some inspiration we will have a volunteering stall to show you the opportunities available in the Students’ Union.
12-2pm, Library Square, Mile End Campus

Wed 10th Oct - Tea and talk
Pop along to have a cuppa and some cake and chat about wellbeing. This is a great time to connect with other students and get to know some new people.
10am-12pm, Blomeley Room 2, Students’ Union Hub, Mile End Campus

Wed 10th Oct - World Mental Health Day
To celebrate, we have Inspire Mental Health Consortium and
Unity Society asking you to share tips for wellbeing and ‘Arrival:
a conversation booth’ from Greater London Authority asking students to think about identity and mental wellbeing in a changing world.
11am-3pm, Library Square, Mile End Campus

Thurs 11th Oct - Self-Care Workshops
These workshops are designed to challenge your idea of ‘self-care’. You might have had no experience before, or think it’s a buzz word, but these will introduce you to different kinds of grounding techniques and exercises to practice if you experience low mood or mild anxiety. Everything you use in the workshop you get to take home with you.

Fri 12th Oct - Get Active Pop-Up
Get Active gives you the opportunity to take part in sport in a fun, social, affordable and relaxed environment. We have over 30 sessions each week in loads of different sports. Pop down to Library Square to learn more or go online:
