Young People of The Year Awards!

QM students nominated for award for their volunteering

The Young People of the Year Award is all about revealing, recognising and rewarding positive role models in London and Essex. 2 QMUL students, Hazel Woodhead and Shobana Sivalingam, have been shortlisted as possible finalists for the 2015 awards, for their work in launching the Bow Foodbank Volunteering Group.

The Volunteering Group has made massive contributions to alleviating food poverty in the local area, by engaging Queen Mary students in activities to support the local Bow Foodbank.

Other students nominated for this award include Gilman Ahmed (for his leadership of the Aspire Volunteering Group) and BL Volunteering Officer, Simon Corke (2013-14 President of the Teddy Bear Hospital Volunteering Group).

The winner will be announced at a prestigious ceremony in November - good luck guys! If you want to get involved in volunteering, visit the QMSU volunteering page here.
