About the role:

If you have a knack for leadership and hold a passion for fundraising and events, then the Volunteering Officer role could be the perfect role to jump-start your university experience. The Students’ Union offers great volunteering opportunities for hundreds of students, who give their time to support charities, societies or local sport communities to make a positive difference and gain new skills. Being their representative as Volunteering Officer, you’ll voice their interests while developing the volunteering service and answering inquiries. You’ll collaborate with Union staff and the Barts Volunteering Officer to support events, training and provide other general assistance.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Attend relevant meetings within the Students’ Union and the university (see list of compulsory meetings below)
  • Represent the interests of the Union’s volunteering service and be the voice of its Mile End members.
  • Convene and co-ordinate with the Volunteering Officer (BL) the Volunteering Board.
  • Assist relevant members of Union staff with events, training and general support for Mile End community volunteers, including volunteering groups and the Students’ Union’s volunteering service.
  • With the Volunteering Officer (BL) be the student face of the Union’s volunteering service and be accessible to students with volunteering inquiries.
  • Actively work to develop the Union’s volunteering service.
  • Provide regular updates on your work to the students you represent
  • Fulfil additional duties as outlined in the Bye-Laws.

 

Meetings that I attend:
  • Student Council (2 hour meeting, five times a year
  • Volunteering Board
