What is the Leadership Academy?

This is our structured pathway to support you on your journey as a leader. We believe that you will already possess the core skills to be an effective leader but our programme is here to help you develop those skills and gain more along the way through practical experience, training and funded qualifications.

• Operate as a coach, official, mentor or a combination
• Engage as an individual or in a group in voluntary or paid positions
• Communicate with Community Foundation to ensure that we can tailor the programme to your needs

Why become a leader?

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to engage in sport and physical activity. Our programme welcomes all students regardless of their own level of engagement in sport because we are confident that you can help to provide opportunities for others.

In addition to making a difference in the local community, our sport leaders develop transferable skills and increase employability. Here are some of the ways that you can benefit as a leader:

• Free clothing including t-shirt and hoodie
• Up to 100% funding for sport qualifications
• Access to training, development and CPD opportunities
• Employment reference from the QMSU Community Foundation Coordinator
• Certificates and a statement of engagement signed by QMSU Sport Staff
