Commuter Rep

Part-time Voluntary Alongside your studies

If you live away from campus and travel to campus regularly to attend teaching and activities, you already know that the commuter experience is a unique one. In this role, you’ll be the voice of all Queen Mary students that commute to campus. The role covers things like travel, commuter socials, timetabling and provision of online teaching and activities.

Who can run? All Queen Mary students that commute to campus can run for the role. The only requirements are that you must be a student in the academic year 2026/27 and commute to campus regularly to attend teaching and activities. When you nominate, make sure to tick the box to self-identify as a commuter.

The Candidates

Candidates for this role will appear here once applications close.

Berat Silfikir

I am committed to creating a safer, more inclusive space for commuters of all backgrounds, particularly vulnerable groups like women and foreign students. I will also advocate for travel bursaries amid rising transport costs. As a commuter from Essex, I understand the financial pressures and hope to create lasting change.

Muhammad Abdulqadir Ahmad

I’m Abdul Qadir, and I’m running for Commuters’ Representative because commuting students deserve stronger representation and practical support. Balancing long travel times with academic demands is challenging. I will advocate for better timetable consideration, improved access to study spaces, and stronger communication for students who are not always on campus.

Muhammad Nahid Hussain

As a commuter student, I understand the challenges of travelling to campus while balancing studies and daily life. I want to ensure commuter voices are heard, improve campus support, and help create a more inclusive experience so commuter students feel represented and connected.
