Training

We know that Skills Award participants all have different interests and career plans, so we organise a varied programme of training sessions to suit your needs.

Examples of training sessions include: Public speaking, time management, negotiation, first aid, mental health awareness and leadership. Please note that some sessions are only offered once per academic year, so sign up early to avoid disappointment.

Before signing up for any training sessions, please register using the form on the Skills Award home page.

Cancellation Policy

All training sessions have a limited capacity and incur costs for the Students’ Union, so we need to operate a strict cancellation policy:

  • If you have signed up for a session and can no longer attend, you must cancel your booking at least 48 hours before the beginning of the session
  • You can email us about extenuating circumstances at su-employability@qmul.ac.uk
  • If you are absent for a session you’ve signed up for without emailing us about an extenuating circumstance twice, you will not be able to engage with any more sessions.

Waiting List

We try to ensure that everybody can get a place on the sessions they want to attend, but because some sessions are very popular, we are sometimes unable to accommodate all interested participants. We operate a first come, first served policy, and we recommend booking your sessions early to avoid disappointment. When a session is fully booked, we operate a waiting list. If you would like to be considered for the waiting list for a full session please email su-employability@qmul.ac.uk.

If you are aiming for the Bronze, Silver, or Gold Skills Award, you need to complete the requirements for the by 31st May 2024, including all role requirements and role-specific training.
