Impartial Pastoral Care

Date lapsed: February 2024

Liberation - inclusion - accessibility

Date lapsed: February 2024

Complete

QMSU notes:
  1. Postgraduate students often feel more isolated due to the nature of their degree programme.
  2. The pastoral care provisions at QMUL for postgraduate students at both taught and research level are not communicated visibly or effectively.

QMSU believes:
  1. That postgraduate students require pastoral care that is external to their department and their supervision team.
  2. That any offered pastoral care should be primarily provided by trained members of staff, not substituted by peer support.
  3. That regular contact should be offered to ensure the full effectiveness of the pastoral care as well as pastoral care being available in an emergency situation.

QMSU resolves:
  1. To lobby and campaign for the provision of pastoral care as set out above.
