Another academic year at Queen Mary Students' Union is officially in the books, and what a year it's been. You've made it a year to remember, so here are some of the highlights... 

You levelled up  

213 students registered for the Skills Award this year, with 50 students achieving Bronze and 43 students achieving Gold, celebrating the skills, experiences and achievements gained beyond the classroom.

 

You celebrated excellence 

You helped us recognise the people who make Queen Mary's student experience what it is, with 82 nominations for the Volunteering Awards125 nominations for the Student Group Awards and 152 nominations for the Educations Awards.  

 

You kept our societies thriving 

Queen Mary’s societies were busier than ever. Over the year, societies:

• Hosted 563 events

• Sold 9,868 tickets

• Generated £126,878.30 in ticket income

• Welcomed 15,138 membership

• Were supported by 1,780 committee members

That’s not all... Your societies also got a funding boost! We invested £56,899.62 into student-led ideas this year, including £51,449.62 in Development Funding and £5,450 in Startup Funding, helping societies create the events, projects and experiences they dreamed of. 

 

You Studied Well 

1,057 students joined us for Study Well events across our Summer and Winter campaigns, taking time to recharge, de-stress and look after their wellbeing during busy assessment periods.  

 

You got moving 

Sport continued to bring students together, with 2,713 club members taking part across 57 sports clubs. 

Our Sports Clubs also hosted 233 BUCS home fixtures, including 86 at Students’ Union facilities and 147 externally. 

Plus, 315 participants took part in our Social Leagues across 32 teams in football, netball, basketball, cricket and badminton. Together, students clocked up 3,715 hours of physical activity - including 3,135 hours of club sport and 580 hours of recreational sport through activities like our 180 structured Get Active sessions. 

 

You built an inclusive space 

Our Liberation events welcomed 2,400 attendees, creating spaces to celebrate identity, build community and champion inclusion. 

We also welcomed 60 students to our Liberation Awards, celebrating the people who helped make these moments possible. 

 

You accessed support when you needed it 

476 students accessed financial support this year, including 13 Welfare Loans130 supermarket vouchers and 333 visits to our Mile End Food Pantry. 

And when you needed academic guidance, 610 students reached out through the Academic Advice Service form. 

 

You made the world a better place 

2,101 students signed up for volunteering opportunities, with over 3,600 hours of volunteering logged through the QMSU website. 

You also put your money where your mouth is by raising £86,000 for charity. This includes £13,000 from Sudanese Society£7,000 from Men’s and Women’s Football Clubs and £3,500 from BL Dance Society. 

Plus, 450 students took part in Climate Action Week, 36 students joined our Canal Cleans, and 400 students visited the Reuse Fair to help stop items going to landfill.
