Postgraduate Engagement with the Students' Union - Call for Participants

The Students’ Union is running a research project targeted at postgraduate students, looking into their engagement with QMSU and what they would like to see more of from QMSU.

This research project seeks to understand how Queen Mary Students’ Union might better represent the interests of both Master’s and PhD students and improve their experience at QM in general. This might include running more events for postgraduate students, or providing them with help and resources not available elsewhere. After the informal QM PhDs in Pandemic group was set up last year in an attempt to tackle the issues faced by PGRs, the Students’ Union wants to understand what it can do to serve Master’s and PhD students better.

  • Are you an international student having trouble navigating the London housing market?
  • Are you doing your Master’s or PhD while looking after children or a relative?
  • Are you stuck at home, without access to a dedicated workspace, and want to connect with other PhD students?

Tell us about your experiences and what we could do to help.

We want to gather feedback from as many and as wide a variety of PGRs as possible – we want to hear from postgraduates from all backgrounds, all faculties, all stages (Master’s or any year of your PhD). This research project is being conducted by Louis Strange, a PhD student in the Department of Linguistics, who is working with the SU to try and understand what other students want from your SU.

If you would be available for an informal, 20-30 minute chat (either face-to-face on QM campus, or via Zoom) to discuss what the Students’ Union should be doing for postgraduate students, please fill out the form below. If you don’t have the time for an interview, please still give your feedback and suggestions, as we want to hear from you.

Any other issues or questions you might have, feel free to send Louis Strange, Postgraduate Engagement and Insights Assistant, an email (l.o.strange@qmul.ac.uk).
