Find out what your Exec Officers have been up to over the past few weeks.

It’s been another busy couple of weeks for your Executive Officers, with World Mental Health Day content, open days, student feedback and exciting events in the works. Here’s what the team have been up to and what they’re working on next.
Riley and Shakshi teamed up to create two videos for World Mental Health Day. In one, they asked students to share what they do to look after their mental health, while the other focused on the things they do themselves to support their wellbeing. It was a great way to share ideas, start conversations and remind students that looking after yourself can mean different things to different people.
The pair also joined forces at Queen Mary’s Open Day, presenting to prospective students and giving them an introduction to university life and the Students’ Union. Shakshi has also been welcoming postgraduate researchers through a PGR induction and attending the PGR Welcome Fair, helping new students find their feet and learn more about the support and opportunities available to them.
Riley has also been gathering ideas directly from students. He recently ran an Instagram question box asking what facilities and amenities students would like to see on campus, receiving around 40 responses. The feedback will help him understand what matters to students and inform conversations about improving campus life. He’s also been connecting with other Sabbatical Officers from across the country to discuss the ongoing issues around Turnitin, share experiences and explore what can be done to support students.
Pradhuman has been spending time around campus chatting with students and encouraging them to get involved with QMSU. He’s also been working hard behind the scenes with Ashpreet to organise an upcoming Bollywood and Hindi-English music jamming event, featuring live music and opportunities for students to sing along. After several weeks of planning and just two days of promotion, more than 50 tickets had already been sold, so there’s plenty of excitement building!
Ashpreet has been busy creating content for QMSU’s social media channels, editing videos from move-in weekend and the RGSU visit. She’s also been helping promote the upcoming music event, with plans to capture more content on the day. There’s plenty more to come as these videos make their way onto our channels.
Finally, Maria has shared some exciting news for Queen Mary’s dental community. Work that began last year with former Dental President Yusuf, who has continued his involvement as an alumni officer, has led to Queen Mary securing the bid to host the annual congress of the International Association of Dental Students. Confirmation came through this week, marking a major milestone and an exciting opportunity to bring an international dental conference to Queen Mary.
Keep an eye out for more updates from your Exec as they continue listening to students, developing their projects and creating opportunities to make university life even better.
Every two weeks, our Exec Officers will also complete an accountability survey, so you can see exactly which meetings they’ve attended, what actions they’ve taken and what they’re working on next.
