Over the last few weeks, we hosted the Annual Awards Ceremonies for societies & student media, sports, and volunteering groups. This was a celebration of the contributions of students and staff who have gone above and beyond and contributed to improving and supporting student experience. The ceremonies were hosted on different days at Drapers Hall and at The Old Library.

Here’s a round-up of the events and a shout-out to some of the winners! We’re immensely proud of everyone who gets involved in Student Union activities and contributes to making our campus (and beyond!) a better, more fun and inclusive place.

The Student Group Awards?took place on 28 March, and every year they celebrate the remarkable achievements, hard work and dedication of student societies and media groups throughout the academic year. The evening took place in the beautiful Old Library with a celebratory food buffet after the ceremony.

We received a massive number of nominations across various categories, including group awards such as Society of Year, Media Outlet of the Year and individual awards like Innovator, Communication and Community Award.

The 'Society of the Year' was awarded to The QM Salsa society, who have had an amazing year with huge wins including securing a place at the biggest UK Latin dance intervarsity competition. The ‘Small Group with a Big Impact Award' was given to the Neurodivergent Society and QM Law Society were the winners of the ‘Diversity and Inclusion Award’.

Winners of Individual Awards included Aurora Hafidza for the 'Commitment Award', Kyra Sinha for the 'Innovator Award', among many others.

The?Volunteering Awards?took place at Draper’s Lounge a week before the Student Group awards on 21 March, and was a chance for student volunteers and partner organisations to come together and celebrate their achievements.

Haven House won 'Community Organisation of the Year’ and ’Volunteering Champion of the Year’ went to Manisa Regami.

It was a lovely night seeing charities and volunteers come together in celebration.

The last award ceremony of this season was the Sports Awards. Celebrating the success of our students in sport, the evening took place once again in the beautiful Old Library. The Fencing Club emerged as the 'Best Club of the Year' and Etey Bassey won the prestigious 'Jack Petchey Award' which is given out to a club member who has gone above and beyond in their role for the club. The awards ceremony was followed by a meal and after party which went on late into the evening.

A big thank you, once again, to everyone who attended the awards and submitted nominations, our awards ceremonies wouldn’t be possible without you! You can see the full list of winners from all the awards here.

Got award ceremony FOMO? No worries. We’re here to remind you that nominations for The Education Awards are open. The Education Awards is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the important work done by many students and staff this year. Give a shout out to your favourite lecturer or thanks to your amazing course rep.
