Find out what your Exec Officers have been up to over the past few weeks.
It’s been a busy start to term for your Executive Officers, who have been starting their projects, meeting with teams across Queen Mary and planning how to turn their ideas into action.
Recently, Pradhuman has been working on a new Course Rep video to help more students understand what Course Reps do and why getting involved can make a real difference. The aim is to boost engagement with Course Reps and help students see how they can have a say in their course and shape their experience at Queen Mary.
Riley has been getting stuck into his three projects and has already joined an AI stakeholder panel, helping to bring the student perspective into conversations about AI. He also swapped meetings for mochas for an afternoon, spending some time with the rest of the Exec learning what it’s like to work behind the scenes at Ground Café. Having previously worked as a barista, Riley reckons he did pretty well, although his latte art may need a little more work!
Shakshi has been focusing on her Buddy System project, meeting with Student Life to learn more about how the current system works and where there could be opportunities to improve it. She’s now doing some research and developing her ideas, with more conversations planned to explore what changes could make the Buddy System even more useful for students.
Ashpreet and Vish headed to the RGSU to take part in a series of working groups and discuss some of the key issues affecting students. They split across different groups, with Ashpreet joining the International Competitiveness group and Vish focusing on Finance and Funding. Ashpreet is also putting together a Reel about the experience, so keep an eye out for that soon!
Alongside all of this, the Exec team have been getting their projects moving, meeting with staff and student groups, and settling in to their roles. It’s only the start of term, so there’s plenty more to come. Keep an eye out for updates from your Exec Officers as their projects start taking shape!
