QMSU Performance Sport have been successful in forming an official partnership with the University of East London, which will see our Talented Athletes & Focus Teams get access to heavily discounted specialised Sports Therapy treatment at their SportsDock facility!

The University of East London’s SportsDock facility offers various treatments by Sports Therapy students under the supervision of experienced professionals. Their mission is to ‘empower you to get back to doing what you love’, while providing aspiring therapists to learn and refine their skills. It will be exciting to see students from UEL and QMUL alike benefiting from this partnership! Discounted services that will be available to students include injury consultations, soft tissue treatment, rehabilitation, sports massage and cryotherapy (extreme cold treatment for a variety of conditions, including pain management and muscle recovery).

Talented Athlete Programme

The Talented Athlete Programme supports high performing student athletes to balance their university life while achieving their sporting potential. These students are competing in an Olympic, Paralympic or Commonwealth sport – or competing consistently at an exceptional level in a sport that is recognised in British Universities and Colleges Sport. Students on this programme are recognised and have clear evidence of their Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth, NGB, or professional representational pathway. Learn more about the programme, current athletes and alumni here!

Focus Teams Programme

The Focus Teams Programme is supporting teams who have clear performance ambitions and goals within their competitions. These teams, and their players, will benefit from a support network to help them achieve said goals. To be part of the programme, focus teams must have the following; a minimum of Tier 1 or equivalent level; a coach and committee who support the team’s culture, performance and development; squad members who display an outstanding level of commitment. Current focus teams include American Football, Badminton, Fencing, Hockey (BL Women), Netball (BL), and Volleyball. Click here to learn more about this programme.

Students on our Performance Sport programmes also get access to lots of great benefits like strength and conditioning, nutritional support, discounted or free gym access, career development, performance workshops and additional opportunities through QMSU. These programmes are a great chance for athletes to develop their sporting careers alongside their studies. Information on how to apply can be found on each individual page for the programmes, but any questions please contact su-performance.sport@qmul.ac.uk.
