Disability Awareness in Sport course is designed to help you learn about different types of disability, examine social attitudes and barriers towards disabled people and the use of appropriate terminology. You will explore practical ways to make your coaching inclusive through the Inclusion Spectrum and STEPS principals and identify how different types of communication can also impact on this.

November

Emergency First Aid Course

This course will be a full day (9:00 – 16:00pm) of training and by the end you will have a first aid qualification that will last for 3 years! This will be extremely useful at your training sessions and matches to ensure greater safety for your members and also to utilise in other areas of your life.

December

Coaching Essentials

Whether you are an experienced coach or have taken it on within your committee position, it is always essential to know how to appropriately plan your coaching sessions. This session is designed to give you the basics about how to get the most out of your members in a training session, increase satisfaction within sessions and maximise development of your players! It will cover how to structure sessions, how to feedback effectively and create long terms goals for the club and its members.

January

Mental Health First Aid

This training is designed to teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis. In the same way as learning physical first aid, MHFA teaches people how to recognise those crucial warning signs of mental ill health and feel confident to guide someone to appropriate support. Embedding MHFA training within any community also encourages people to talk more freely about mental health, reducing stigma and creating a more positive culture and will give you the tools to tackle potential instances of this within your club.

March

Introduction to Employability

In this workshop we will take you through some essential steps you will need to know when starting to look for jobs, some handy tips and resources to help you throughout the process! Job hunting and everything that goes with it can seem a bit overwhelming and stressful but after this workshop you will hopefully feel more prepared to enter the world of job hunting, know what to expect and have resources and support to make use of along the way. We will look at CVs, Cover Letters, interviews, mindset and reflection on the skills you already have and how you can acquire more skills whilst at uni/beyond.
