Do you want a say on how sustainability should be embedded in Students’ Union activities? Or how we can remove unnecessary packaging and plastic in our shops and cafés? Or maybe you have an idea of where we can put more planting on campus. This is your chance to have your say.
The Sustainability Board is an elected group of students, working to represent students on sustainability and environmental issues within the Students’ Union and across the University. The committee is a subcommittee of Student Council, which means that it reports back to Student Council. At meetings the Board discusses sustainability issues and ideas, opportunities to lobby the University and can pass policies relevant to the Board’s remit.
For example, in 2020/21 the Board ran an appeal collecting 400 donations and raising £400 for Bow Foodbank and developed an Environmental Policy for the Students’ Union as well as passing motions on topics such as sustainable menus, recycling and ethical investment.
The Board usually meets 4 times per year, with meetings currently taking place online. If you would like to attend a meeting of the Sustainability Board, you can contact the Chair.
